This is an attempt to post at least one photo each week. Hell, I eat three times a day so this should be easy…
I watched this earlier today and it was extremely interesting to hear various thoughts on the subject. It’s about an hour so get a good cup of tea and settle in.

Everyone in the world who is trying to sell a book in the US is at this thing. Including but not limited to: Arianna Huffington, John Hodgman (the PC guy), and some author with an enormous line of people waiting for an audio book.

Last weekend I rented what I thought was my ideal camera, the Mamiya 7II. It was in fact a nice camera but I don’t think the $2400 price tag is justified for something that has as many shortcomings as it does. That’s just for one lens too, and the lens I really want is another $2500 on top of that. Soooo, it’s not gonna happen. What it did do (other than save me $5000) is direct my attention toward the weak link in my photo chain, the scanner. My current scanner is an Epson flatbed. While a nice scanner, it lacks detail when scanning film. And I think this is part of my dis-satisfaction with the recent rental. The resolution jump that I expected with the Mamiya from my Yashica TLR just wasn’t there. So, I’ve changed my course. I’m now looking into a dedicated film scanner as a solution. Wish me luck.
Meanwhile here are some shots I’ve taken recently with the Yashica.
